Codes of Ethics

I abide by the Codes of Ethics (and Conduct) of both the Health Professions Council

and the British Association of Art Therapists.

Confidentiality

Almost always everything we discuss during our meetings will remain confidential. However, in order to work in a professional manner, I need to meet with my supervisor (who is bound by the same Codes of Ethics relating to confidentiality) on a regular basis. There, I may (in an anonymous way) discuss aspects of our work together, to help me to work more effectively.

The only other exception to complete confidentiality is if I believe that you (or someone close to you), is in danger of harm to yourself or others. In that situation I would hope that we could discuss this and solve the problem. In an extreme situation, I may have to take matters into my own hands, without discussing this with you first.

Complaints

I hope our work together is satisfactory. If, for any reason, you are less than satisfied, I really hope that we would be able to discuss whatever has gone wrong and resolve it. If this is not possible, you may wish to contact the Health Professions Council, where I am registered as an Art Therapist.
